The Challenge
Courier machines (parcel lockers) are often located outdoors or in unheated areas. They are exposed to numerous extreme factors:
Direct sunlight
Standard screens become unreadable in bright daylight.
Condensation and moisture
Morning dew and rain penetrate unprotected electronics.
Extreme temperatures
From -20°C in winter to +50°C inside a sun-exposed cabinet.
Vandalism and heavy use
Hundreds of users daily put the touchscreen under heavy load.
The IWILL Solution
For this project we deployed an Android Panel PC from the ITPC-B series with customised modifications:
High Brightness Display
Brightness increased to 1000 nits for readability in direct sunlight. Full Bonding technology to eliminate reflections and condensation between the glass and LCD panel.
Wide Temperature RAM/SSD
Industrial components operating reliably from -20°C to +60°C. ECC memory protection and SLC NAND flash storage for greater endurance at extreme temperatures.
Peripheral integration
Using the built-in USB and COM ports for direct connection to the electrical locks on the compartments, the barcode scanner and the POS terminal. No additional adapters or hubs required.
IP65 Enclosure
Fully sealed front panel, resistant to water jets and dust. Projected capacitive touch designed for operation with gloves and wet fingers.
Result
The system operates reliably with 99.9% uptime, reducing maintenance costs and on-site technician visits. The locker operator saved significant sums on service visits, and end users received a reliable interface even in extreme weather conditions.
